SFTP Access How-To for Customers

This will guide customers through the process of generating an SSH Key so that Vizit can provide them access to our SFTP and they can upload images to a specific private folder

How to Set Up Your SFTP Account with Vizit

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up your SFTP account to securely upload images to Vizit.

Step 1: Generate an SSH Key

To begin, you'll need to generate an SSH key pair. This involves creating two linked files: a private key (which you keep secure) and a public key (which you'll share with Vizit).

  • Contact your IT department and ask them to generate an SSH key pair for you.
  • Ensure the key is generated in a secure manner, following your company's security protocols.

Step 2: Share Your Public Key

Once the SSH key pair is generated, your IT department will provide you with a file ending in ".pub". This is your public key.

  • Securely share this ".pub" file with your Vizit representative.
  • This will allow Vizit to grant you access to the SFTP server.

Step 3: Vizit Account Setup

After receiving your public key, Vizit will:

  • Create a unique username for your account on the SFTP server.
  • Create a dedicated folder for your company on the SFTP server. This will be your root folder.
  • Configure the server to grant you access to your root folder using your SSH key.

Step 4: Upload Your Images

Once Vizit confirms your account is set up, you can:

  • Use an SFTP client (such as FileZilla or WinSCP) to connect to the Vizit SFTP server using your provided credentials and private key.
  • Within your root folder, create subfolders to organize your images as needed.
  • Upload your images to the appropriate folders.
