How We Customize and Build Your Audiences

When customizing audiences for your workspaces, we use a three-step process:

  1. Gather data: We gather data from multiple sources where people shop and consume visual content online. New visual content is indexed for hundreds of consumer audiences, from thousands of websites and brands around the world.

  2. Analyze: Our patented technology identifies “visual cues” - details of each image that correlate with positive engagement and interaction. Visual cues can include subject matter, scenery, colors, styling, lighting, shapes, layout, and various unique image detail combinations.

  3. Learn: We apply deep-learning algorithms, designed to understand the patterns in visual cues that generate the most audience interest. This results in a constantly updated catalog of visual preferences. As Vizit continues to learn from millions of interactions with visual content, the algorithm becomes more accurate, even as consumer interactions and preferences evolve.

We first curate audiences based on demographic information such as:

  • Gender
  • Age
  • Income
  • Marital Status
  • Education Level
  • Parental Status
  • Occupation

Audiences are then segmented based on several factors:

  • Behavioral
  • Interest
  • Psychographic
  • Hobbies
  • Buying Habit
  • Brand/Product Usage/Advocacy

The best practice for creating a custom audience is to select 2-4 segmentation criteria, then identify unique "agree / disagree" statements within those criteria for further classification.

For example, if one selected segmentation is Interest > Healthy Eating, some statements within Healthy Eating could be:

  • Agrees: buying fresh fruit and vegetables weekly
  • Agrees: cooking own meals 4x a week
  • Agrees: spending a little more on organic produce
  • Disagrees: purchasing fast food despite convenience 

By default, our audiences are US-based, but we can target international markets as well, from 47 countries and 4,000 local regions.


We understand that preferences and biases of your consumers change over time. So we will update and refresh your audiences each time your platform account renews. If you need one-off updates, or a more frequent update schedule, please coordinate with your Vizit Services team.

Nervous Nelly

  • Female, age 25-49
  • Lives in Germany
  • Employed full time
  • No children
  • Does not enjoy taking risks
  • Worries about the future and/or herself
  • Enjoys cooking, baking and/or reading
  • Eating healthy is important

Frugal Fred

  • Male, age 30-49
  • Employed part or full time
  • Household income is less than $100,000
  • Based in the West or Southern United States
  • Is careful with money
  • At least one of the following:
    • Does not spend money without thinking
    • Will purchase a new/unknown brand to save money
    • Price is one of the most important factors in getting what I want

Reckless Risk-Takers

  • Female, age 21-49
  • Lives in California
  • Enjoys taking risks
  • Considers herself brave, courageous and adventuresome
  • Visits amusement parks whenever possible
  • Enjoys activities like skiing, snowboarding, jet skiing, surfing, snowmobiling

Travel Extraordinaire 

  • Between 18-65 years old
  • Has traveled outside the US in the last 3 years
  • Enrolled in a frequent flyer or hotel rewards program
  • Uses the internet to plan travel
  • Enjoys at least one of the following:
    • Visting Museums
    • Photography
    • Dining Out
    • Eating foreign food and/or trying new foods
