How to Register with Two-Factor Authentication

Your organization may require you to use two-factor authentication (2FA) as en extra level of security when signing into Vizit. Your regular email and password entry is considered the first factor for authentication when signing into your account. The second factor will be entering a code sent to a compatible authentication app on a mobile device or computer.

Setting up 2FA for your Vizit account

Step 1: Download a two-factor authentication app

In order to use 2FA to sign into Vizit, you will need to install a two-factor authentication app onto your computer or mobile device.

Step 2: Register Vizit into the application

Once you have installed and set up your authenticator application, you can connect your Vizit account to that app. Many apps like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator use plus sign (+) button to start setup to link a new account. Once you've gotten started, there are two ways to connect:

Option 1: Scan the QR code Vizit provides
Look for and tap a "Scan QR code" button or prompt. Point your device's camera at the QR code to scan. Once successfully scanned, you should see a six-digit code appear.

Option 2: Manually enter the code Vizit provides
Below the QR code on Vizit, there is a long string of letters and numbers. Type (or copy and paste) that string into your authenticator app. Once successfully submitted, you should see a six-digit code appear.

Step 3: Enter the six-digit code into Vizit

After you've scanned the QR code or entered the code manually, your authenticator app will provide a six-digit code. Enter that code into Vizit, and click "Submit" to finish setting up 2FA. Please note: these codes often update every 30 or 60 seconds, so make sure the code you enter is still the code your app is displaying.

Signing into Vizit using 2FA

Once 2FA is successfully set up and you've logged into Vizit, keep the authenticator app installed on your mobile device — you will use this same app to log into Vizit for every future session.

Next time you need to log in, you will enter and submit your email and password. On the ensuing page, you will need to enter and submit a new six-digit code that your authenticator app has created specifically for Vizit.
